Managing overall procurement for more than 20 individual ports, each with its own systems and procedures can be a challenge. But in today’s world, this is further complicated by the urgent need to reduce working capital and operational procurement costs, while simultaneously minimizing environmental impact on the supply chain.
As a starting point Refresh Desktop software will now be used to read, analyze and tag all previously procured and stocked items at the lowest level to the UNSPSC standard. These consistent and repeatable purchasing classes for every item of supply will then be used to highlight savings opportunities for strategic sourcing, as well as for the operations and tax departments going forward in the medium term.
In 2017 the desktop tool will also be used to automatically cleanse and standardize all stocked item descriptions and classifications in preparation for the implementation of the new SAP system – helping to set up the ERP system for success from day 1.
